FERGUSONS PADDOCK

Public BBQ

Ferguson's Paddock stretches along Hurstbridge's main street like a green ribbon, offering that peculiar Australian combination of community spirit and practical outdoor living. The park's barbecue facilities, while present, appear to suffer from the eternal struggle between council maintenance schedules and the local bird population's enthusiasm for leaving their mark. Families gravitate toward the undercover picnic areas and well-equipped playground, where children's laughter mingles with the occasional territorial dispute over prime table real estate. The dog park, accessed via a bridge over the creek, provides both on and off-leash zones, though visitors would be wise to consult the shire's online map as the signage seems to have gone walkabout. Weekend farmers' markets transform the space into a bustling hub of local produce, coffee, and community fundraising, complete with petting zoo entertainment that delights children and tests parents' patience in equal measure.
